Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Stephan Fischer, trading as AllOffRoad ("AllOffRoad", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you use alloffroad.com.au (the "Site"), sign up for our newsletter, contact us, or otherwise interact with us online.

AllOffRoad is operated as a sole trader in Australia. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What Personal Information We Collect

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for the operation of the Site and for communicating with you. The information we collect falls into the following categories:

1.1 Information you give us directly

  • Newsletter sign-ups: first name and email address.
  • Contact form: name, email address, and the content of the message you send.
  • Correspondence: any information you voluntarily include when you email us, message us on social media, or write to our postal address.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Analytics data: pages visited, approximate location (country/region), device type, browser, referring URL, and time spent on pages. This is collected by Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-VP7NKHJ3RH) using cookies.
  • Server and hosting logs: IP address, request timestamps, user-agent strings and similar technical information recorded by our hosting provider for security, diagnostics and abuse prevention.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see section 6 below.

1.3 Information from third parties

If you interact with us on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Bluesky, Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee, those platforms may provide us with publicly available information about you (for example, your public username and any comments you post). Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To send you the AllOffRoad newsletter and respond to your enquiries.
  • To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.
  • To understand how readers use the Site (in aggregate) so we can produce better content.
  • To comply with our legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from regulators or courts.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share email addresses with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Legal Basis for Collection

We collect personal information when you voluntarily provide it (for example, by signing up for the newsletter) and where collection is reasonably necessary for our functions or activities as a publisher and content creator. Where you can opt out of a particular use (for example, newsletter emails), we explain how to do so.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We disclose personal information only to the service providers we use to run the Site and the newsletter. These currently include:

  • Bluehost / cPanel hosting (United States) — website hosting and server infrastructure.
  • Google LLC (United States) — Google Analytics 4 (audience measurement), Google Fonts (font delivery) and YouTube (embedded videos).

We may also disclose personal information where required by law, to protect our legal rights (including in the context of legal proceedings), or to prevent fraud or abuse.

4.1 Overseas Transfers

Our hosting provider and Google store and process data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. By submitting personal information through the Site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle personal information in accordance with the APPs.

5. How We Store and Secure Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include using reputable service providers, HTTPS encryption across the Site, and limiting access to submitted form data to the site operator.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, or as required by law. Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, after which their email address is removed from our active mailing list.

6. Cookies and Tracking

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser.

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand how readers use the Site. These cookies are set by Google and collect aggregated, largely anonymous information.
  • Embedded content cookies: pages with embedded YouTube videos may cause YouTube to set its own cookies if you play a video. We do not control those cookies.
  • Essential cookies: if you log in to the site administration area, session cookies are used to keep you signed in.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of the Site work — for example, embedded videos may not load correctly.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete.
  • Request deletion of your personal information where we no longer have a lawful reason to retain it.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
  • Complain if you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will respond within a reasonable time (generally within 30 days).

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

8. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Links to Other Websites

The Site contains links to third-party websites (for example, YouTube, Patreon, Buy Me a Coffee, manufacturer websites referenced in reviews, and affiliate partners). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new services or when the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently revised. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, through a notice on the Site).
